Refuge (Original 1995)
Refuge (Original) is the very first album Keith released. It contains 12 songs including one solo piano instrumental. Most of these are based on scripture passages that he set to music from the Psalms, as well as some with lyrics by Fanny Crosby. He was accompanied by his brother, Nathan, on vocals, by his good friend, Paul Wildes, on cello and his university music theory instructor, Ivar Lunde, on oboe for various tracks. He really loved what they added to the album. So, when he decided to have it remastered in 2002, to his dismay, he found that because the mastering brought up the volume so much, many background noises could be heard. So, he then had to re-record the cello and oboe with musicians in Nashville where he was living then. he also took that opportunity to re-sing a few other tracks (Kindly Words, and Mary and the Angel) and slightly rewrite one (the latter). He had planned on releasing The Rock of Ages on a new album, so, he took it off the remastered version which released in 2002 and is still planning to release The Rock of Ages again in its updated form in the future.
